At Bella’s we believe that it is never too early to start investing in your skin. Think of it as starting a savings account at the bank—every time you cleanse, tone and moisturise (CTM) you are depositing a chunk of savings in your skin, that you can redraw on in ten years’ time.
That may not be the most exciting of analogies, but we see it time and time again in our salon. We have clients in their fifties who were taught to CTM at puberty by their mothers, and now due to their diligence, they have beautiful skin. The older you are before you start taking care of your skin, the more damage you will experience.
Our basic recommendation is that women should start being proactive about anti-aging in their 20s. Research shows that as early as age 25 our skin’s two structural proteins—collagen (which keeps it firm, taut and resilient) and elastin (which gives skin its flexibility, enabling it to stretch out and then snap back into place)—decrease. Cell turnover slows, antioxidant protection diminishes, and natural defences and skin healing abilities decline.
Everyone should wear sunscreen on a daily basis, well before they hit their 20s. Sunscreen is an anti-aging tool that should be used 365 days a year to prevent sun and free radical damage, especially when living in the harsh Australian climate.
At night, we highly recommend a retinol cream, to help regulate collagen production, stimulate cellular turnover, soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and help keep your pores cleaned out.
If you are serious about anti-aging techniques, you need Retinol in your everyday skincare regime. Retinol stimulates the production of new skin cells and inhibits the body’s natural enzymes that break down collagen. It also helps to fade dark spots resulting from photo-aging, hyperpigmentation, hormonal changes and blemish scars.
At Bella’s Skincare we have a wide range of facial and skincare treatments to help you. We will customise a skin care regime for you to follow, enhancing your natural beauty and ensuring you have plenty of savings to rely upon in the years to come.
