While the light of summer may be fading faster than we can pack away our bikini’s, the cooler months are a great opportunity to get on top of some of your beauty tasks. IPL Skin Rejuvenation is one of our favourite treatments here at Bella’s and we can’t recommend it highly enough as a method of tackling skin concerns. If you’re new to IPL Skin Rejuvenation, we’ve put together everything you need to know.
What is it?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light technology and is one of the safest, most effective in salon options for treating a number of skincare concerns including pigmentation, freckles, redness, broken capillaries and age spots.
Basically, an intense pulsed light is generated which converts to heat energy as it reaches the collagen layer beneath the skin. The light is drawn to pigmentation in the skin, which it breaks down.
What is involved?
All IPL Skin Rejuvenation treatments at Bella’s include a thorough consultation and patch test 24 hours prior to your treatment to ensure the most suitable course of action.
Following this, an IPL procedure involves intense light from a range of wavelengths focused on specific parts of your skin. The IPL device is gently pressed onto the skin allowing the light to work its magic on targeted areas of concern. Light from the IPL device helps to induce collagen production, which helps plump skin and reduce redness and discolouration.
Depending on your skin area of concern, an IPL treatment session usually takes around 30 minutes. We provide eye masks for our clients to protect their eyes and gel may be applied to the skin to avoid overheating. The process itself is not painful but may feel slightly warm.
Is there any downtime involved?
There is no downtime required for our IPL Skin Rejuvenation treatment. It is non-invasive and perfect for fitting into your busy schedule.
